Embarking on a BIG Project
I had never designed a cookbook before, let alone an entire book. I am so grateful to now have the experience of project managing, planning, and executing a 280 page cookbook over the span of 4 months. Nothing like real life experience to teach you what to do (and not to do) during a major project.
Process
To start a project like this, Skyla, the Chef and Author, and I met at the Boulder Library, where I had pulled a few cookbooks for inspiration and she had brought her favorites from home. We discussed timeline, aesthetic, goals, and the ideal end result.
From there, I presented Skyla with a moodboard document outlining 3 distinct visual directions we could take her debut book.
After Skyla decided on a beautiful mix of all 3 boards, I presented her with multiple options of font pairings, exploring a variety of header, subheader, and body copy choices.
From there, we had countless meetings, reviews, revisions, deadlines and due dates to meet from August until the end of November when the book was completed.
